Emporios Getaway

Located in Emporios, just a few meters from the sea and quietly hidden behind the surrounding trees, this small residence is conceived as a retreat that celebrates simplicity, privacy and a close connection with nature.

The interior is organized as a compact open-plan space, where every element has been carefully considered and every square meter is fully utilized. The layout includes a small kitchen, a large bathroom,  a built-in seating area and a raised sleeping platform, while even secondary spaces — such as the area beneath the staircase — are transformed into useful and integrated parts of the home.

The organization of the residence draws inspiration from the traditional Kalymnian “katogi”, where living was based on the essentials: simple, functional spaces that provided exactly what was needed. This idea is reinterpreted through a contemporary, minimal design, enriched with subtle references to local materials, proportions and architectural details.

Access to the rooftop opens the house towards the landscape, offering panoramic views of the sea, Emporios beach and the small island of Kalavros.

The result is a small but complete island home — a peaceful place to step away from everyday life, reconnect with nature and experience the quiet, authentic character of Emporios.
