Residence Interior Renovation

This interior design project focuses on the transformation of an existing residence located in the traditional village area of Kalymnos. The main intention was to create a contemporary boho-inspired interior, while maintaining a strong connection to the island’s architectural identity through the use of natural and traditional materials such as plaster, stone and wood.

A series of spatial and architectural interventions were introduced to improve both the functionality and the overall character of the house. The living room and kitchen are organised as a single open-plan space, creating a warm and inviting environment for everyday living and social interaction. A new fireplace is introduced as a central element of the living area, while selected openings are modified in order to improve natural light, circulation and the relationship between the different spaces.

The floor plan is clearly organised into two distinct zones. On one side are the social and communal areas, including the kitchen, dining and living spaces, while the opposite side accommodates the more private areas of the residence, providing greater privacy and a calmer atmosphere.

The private zone consists of a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and dedicated wardrobe space, a smaller children’s bedroom, an additional bedroom, and a spacious shared bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Throughout the residence, the interior design combines clean contemporary lines with softer, more natural textures. Earthy tones, handcrafted details, warm timber elements, textured plaster surfaces and carefully selected stone features contribute to a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere.

The result is a modern boho interior with a Mediterranean character, where traditional materials and references are reinterpreted through a contemporary design approach, creating a comfortable, timeless and welcoming home.
